Build and scale agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore & Strands Agents

Introduction

In this hands-on, 2-hour workshop you’ll go from zero to a production-ready AI agent on AWS. Using the Strands Agents framework and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, you’ll build a real-world Know Your Customer (KYC) solution through a series of progressive labs: start by creating agents that evaluate mortgage eligibility, research property data via web scraping and code execution, and perform credit and income verification — then secure them with AgentCore Identity, expose them through AgentCore Gateway, and deploy the full solution to AgentCore Runtime with built-in observability. You’ll leave with practical experience across the entire agent lifecycle — from prototyping with custom tools, browser automation, and code interpreters, all the way to production deployment with session isolation, authentication, monitoring, and scaling. This workshop is designed for developers and engineers looking to build and deploy AI agents, IT professionals and technical managers exploring production-grade integration patterns, and business executives seeking to understand the potential of AI agents for automating complex workflows.

Prerequisites

All you need is a laptop with an internet connection and foundational knowledge of AWS services (console navigation, basic service concepts). Basic Python familiarity is helpful but not required. No personal AWS account is needed — pre-provisioned AWS accounts will be provided to all participants for the duration of the workshop.

Learning Objectives

By attending this workshop, you will learn how to build functional AI agents using the Strands Agents framework with proper configuration and business logic, extend agent capabilities with AgentCore tools such as the browser and code interpreter, persist conversational context using AgentCore Memory, secure your agents with AgentCore Identity and AWS Cognito integration, expose tools at scale through AgentCore Gateway using MCP-compatible endpoints, and deploy and monitor your agents on AgentCore Runtime with CloudWatch and X-Ray observability.
