Luis OrusSr. Prototyping Engagement Manager
Bio
My name is Luis, an English (C2), French (C1), Spanish (native)-speaking cloud engineering Manager with experience leading an international, globally-distributed team (United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Korea, and Singapore) of Associate Specialist Solutions Architects covering Data, AI/ML, GenAI, Core (Security, Networking, Edge) and Compute domains at Amazon Web Services (AWS), on-demand cloud computing subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. Now in AWS Prototyping.
I am Amazon Bar Raiser, and I am ’n-x’ AWS Certified (a.k.a. AWS Gold Jacket). ’n’ keeps changing every month. New certifications keep coming up, others expire, etc. so I’ve lost count. It’s easy to just share my stats: I took my first cert exam on March 27th, 2021. I’ve taken 23 exams (23/23 passed; 100% accuracy!). I currently have 14 active certifications (AWS has 13 active certifications): AIP, COA, DVA, SAA, DOP, SAP, ANS, SCS, MLA, AIF, DEA, PAS, DAS, CLF. Rest are expired. FAQ. Q: Do you recommend taking cert exams? A: Yes, it is a good learning process. It keeps your saw sharp. Q: Are you a better professional because of cert exams? A: Yes. I learn new things. It increases my market value / improves other’s perception. Q: Will you hire me if I have certs? A: No. Certs are a nice to have, not a must have or a qualification criteria. They are a plus. Instead of taking certs, go build stuff.
I frequently do skiing, hitting the slopes from the Alps to the Pyrenees; I am originally from Aragon, home of the AWS Europe (Spain) Region open since Nov 16, 2022.
